On Monday June the 25th at 19.30 five artists will present their works inspired in J. V. Foix. The proposal includes a number of techniques. The artists are Marina Berdalet, Montse Ginesta, Eva Figueras, Marta Balaguer, Marian López and Manuela Candini.

On Saturday June the 30th, a commemoration of the 25 anniversary of J.V. Foix will take place in El Port de la Selva. The events will start at 10 am. Three exhibitions will be inaugurated at 11 am. In the afternoon a round table will be held, together with a recital about texts by Foix, with some musical accompaniment. More information

With the title “Ya XXV años sin J. V. Foix” the poet and translator Enrique Badosa carries out a gloss of the Sol, i de dol‘s author and presents the Spanish translations of eight poems.

Llibres per llegir invites you to a literary tour through J. V. Foix‘s vital and urban spaces. The tour has been designed by Maria Nunes, a Professor of Catalan Language and Literature. Professor Nunes will describe the most emblematic places in the author’s biography and work.

Time and meeting place: 6:30 pm outside the entrance to the Sarrià railway station (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya).

A rose…

Frederic Amat’s video “A rose…” is inspired by J.V. Foix‘s poem “Una rosa amb un ganivet al pit…” (“A Rose with a Knife on its Bosom…”) and was made to commemorate de 25th anniversary of the poet’s death.
It was first shown during the event that took place at the Sarrià cemetery on January 29th, and was shown again at the “Nit de Poesia al Palau” of Barcelona Poesia 2012 festival.

El faroner, de mil bigotis…

The Fundació J. V. Foix has received from Estudi d’Art Jordi Aligué-Anna Bellvehí the donation of two folders containing a total of 81 drawings made by its students since the beginning of the academic year, using the J. V. Foix‘s text “El faroner, de mil bigotis…” as their inspiration. El faroner, de mil bigotis….

On Monday April the 16th there will be a presentation of the book Cada poeta és ell, published by the Fundació J. V. Foix towards the end of 2011. We will have the participation of the translators of Foix‘s poems into Spanish, Enrique Badosa and José Corredor-Matheos, as well as Albert Tugues and Ramon Salvo, who was the editor of the book.

Que hagin aparedat…

On March the 21st, 43 students from the school Dolors Montserdà visited the Fundació J. V. Foix and interviewed its president Jordi Madern, who was J. V. Foix‘s nephew and lived with the poet for over 35 years.

This school has worked on the life and work of J. V. Foix from primary level to 6th level, with a view to the submission of all the essays written by its students to the Jocs Florals, the Poetry Festival which will be held on April the 23th.

World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day is on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1999. The purpose of the day is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout THE WORLD and, as the UNESCO session declaring the day says, to “give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements”.
